Yoni Mayraz - Dogs Bark Babies Cry (2025)

"Dogs Bark, Babies Cry" is the debut album from London-based pianist and producer Yoni Mayraz. The album is a bold synthesis of jazz improvisation with the aesthetics of 90s New York hip-hop and house music. Drawing on his Middle-Eastern heritage, Mayraz seamlessly integrates traditional instruments like the oud and ney flute into a contemporary soundscape. The record is characterized by energetic grooves, broken beats, and a raw, club-like atmosphere, achieved through live recording sessions with his band. The album explores the contrasts and tensions of urban life, reflected in its title, which was inspired by the street sounds of Tel Aviv.
