Boz Scaggs is a multi-Grammy-winning, blues, jazz, and R&B singer/songwriter. His earthy tenor and laid-back delivery belie intense focus and passion. His recordings run the gamut from blues and R&B, to soul, pop standards, jazz and rock. During the 1960s, he served as guitarist and occasional lead singer with the Steve Miller Band, but gained fame as a solo artist with 1974's Slow Dancer (produced by Motown's Johnny Bristol). 1976's proto-disco Silk Degrees was a global smash. Certified five times platinum, it netted four top 20 singles, including "Lido Shuffle" and "Dirty Lowdown." More recent recordings -- including 1997's Come on Home, 2001's Dig, 2013's Memphis, 2015's A Fool to Care, and 2018's Out of the Blues, reveal that however infrequently he records, it's an event. He serves in the all-star Dukes of September with Michael McDonald and Donald Fagen. In October 2025, he issued Detour, a quartet outing with bandoneonist Seth Asarnow, keyboardist Jim Cox, and drummer Jason Lewis.
