“Pale, Through the Window” blends Ruston Kelly’s spiritual awakening with the experience of finding new love. Born from a period of personal transformation after battles with addiction, loss, and self-reckoning, the album was recorded live with his touring band and producer Jarrad Kritzstein. It captures both intimacy and spontaneity, featuring a rich sonic palette from pedal steel by Kelly’s father to shimmering synths and pop-punk-tinged guitars. Lyrically, it moves from confessional ballads to bright songs framing love as both sanctuary and defiance, anchored in the belief that joy and hope are possible even after the hardest trials.
