Cheikh Lô - Maame (2025) [Hi-Res]

"Maame" is the first studio album in ten years from Senegalese musician Cheikh Lô, scheduled for release on September 26, 2025. Work on the album began in 2021 during the global lockdown at the artist's home studio in Dakar and subsequently evolved into an international project. Cheikh Lô composed and arranged all the tracks, and also performed guitar, drums, timbales, congas, shakers, and backing vocals. The recording features musicians from various countries and incorporates both modern and traditional African instruments such as the balafon, kora, African flute, sabar, and talking drum. The album is named after Lô's late spiritual guide, Maame Massamba Ndiaye, and is dedicated to themes of faith, Pan-African unity, and humanitarian issues, particularly the problem of statelessness.
