Javier Vázquez Y Su Salsa - La Verdad (1974)

Javier Vázquez was born in Havana in 1936 and grew up in the rumba neighborhood of Jesús María. His father was a founder of Sonora Matancera, so his childhood revolved around conga and rumba groups, and the guarachas and boleros of Sonora. After studying violin, he went on to play piano in Jóvenes del Cayo, had an orchestra called Los Hijos de la Sonora Matancera, and then joined Sonora in 1957.
