On October 10, 2025, the Sonar Kollektiv label will release "Velvet Breaks," the new album from German scene veteran Don Philippe (Freundeskreis). It is a fully instrumental lo-fi hip-hop record with a signature analog sound, broken rhythms, and a cinematic atmosphere. Conceptually, the album is a musical meditation on fragility, decay, and the beauty of erosion, told without words through textures and grooves. This work is aimed at fans of thoughtful and soulful instrumental hip-hop in the vein of Nujabes and J Dilla and is perfectly suited for quiet listening.
