Toni Michelle Braxton (born October 7, 1967 in Severn, Maryland) is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her distinctive deep contralto voice. She has won seven Grammy Awards and has sold over forty million albums worldwide. Her most successful single is "Un-Break My Heart", which is the second best-selling single by a female artist in Billboard chart history.
Her first album, Toni Braxton, released in 1993, reached number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart. This success was repeated with her second album, Secrets, which featured her best-known song, "Un-Break My Heart", and her third album, The Heat, which had a more hip-hop sound. After the release of her studio album More Than a Woman, she left Arista and signed with Blackground, where she released one album, Libra, in 2005. His latest album, Pulse, was released in 2010.
