It was during the summer of 1974, while on vacation at his grandparents' house in London's Battersea district, in the shadow of the chimneys that Pink Floyd would make famous, that Phil discovered the legendary bands that would change his life on the BBC.
The adventure began during his high school years in Marseille, his hometown. He spent time in rock bands, studios, and concerts. Pop and rock would never leave him. Anglo-Saxon rock standards were part of the repertoire he regularly performed in Parisian clubs and pubs.
THERE'S A PLACE is PHIL PACE's debut album. Initially released in 2007 on the Daruma Productions label, the album, which had disappeared from digital platforms for over a year, has now resurfaced with a new look, remixed and remastered, enriched with four previously unreleased tracks from the same period.
We can already find the major lines of Phil Pace's influences, namely a pronounced taste for pop melodies made in the UK and the transatlantic folk of the songwriters he loves: Dylan, Petty, Springsteen.
THERE'S A PLACE sounds like an idealistic, authentic, and sincere folk-rock manifesto, in which Phil Pace questions the inconsistencies of the world we live in.
The album's 15 tracks feature guitars and melodies.
Notable among the bonus tracks is the instrumental and electro-acoustic version of "Mystery Girl," which inspired the track recorded on the second album "LETTERS MEMORY," as well as the chorus of "When the Rain," which would be used on "For a Friend.
