This won’t be a live album in the traditional sense, but a whole new studio album with new songs recorded live in one take, with an audience present. Kind of a concert, but an unconventional one, as my band and I, co-producer and technicians moved our recording session into Oslo Konserthus’ Lille Sal – a stage with a connecting studio – to make my fifth album, with a couple hundred friends in attendance.
This project is very much a declaration of love from me to everyone who listens to my music. The album title Do You Know Something I Don’t is a question without a question mark, because it’s more of a statement of fact: You DO know something I don’t. You are the other half of the magic in music, whether we are meeting in a sweaty venue, through your headphones while sitting on a bus with your head against the window, or when you put on a record and lie down on the couch to daydream.
At this moment in time, it feels so important to do the opposite of tearing down. Love is to build up, to create. More than ever, to keep on creating seems like the sensible thing to do.
This studio album is created not only by musicians in a studio, but also by the audience that was present in Oslo Konserthus on May 23rd.
