Koralle, Yawuh - Primo Quarto (2025) [Hi-Res]

The album "Primo Quarto" is the result of a musical friendship between producers Yawuh and Koralle, which materialized in an apartment building in Bologna where the 13 tracks were recorded and mixed on the first and fourth floors. The recording featured local musicians, three US MCs (Anti-Lilly, Tiff The Gift, Physical Graffiti), and producers Saib, Phlocalyst, and Lorenzo Morresi. The title "Primo Quarto" is an Italian term for the first quarter of the moon, symbolizing the emotional core of the album as a balance between light and dark, clarity and mystery. The music's sound is described as a blend of beats and jazz, with the track "Shangri-La" serving as an example of an earthy soul-jazz tune with a chilled vibe and a lush arrangement, named after the utopian city. Yawuh describes the album as their version of "Shangri-La"—a peaceful, surreal city at night where urban life merges with nature and stillness. Yawuh also runs the label Beat's Tailors and is part of the group Unword, while Koralle is recognized as one of Italy's best beatmaker-turned-musicians, known for his signature jazz beat sound on his solo albums and collaborations with numerous artists.
