The album "Mangundi" is the new original studio album by Brazilian percussionist João Parahyba, one of the founders of the legendary Trio Mocotó. Released by the Selo Vitrine label, the album consists of eight (8) original tracks and presents instrumental music, combining various Brazilian rhythms and styles such as samba, baião, bossa-jazz, afro, and polyrhythm. The title "Mangundi" is an expression from the Paraíba Valley (Vale do Paraíba) meaning "unlikely mixtures," which reflects the eclectic nature of the musical content. The album features a special guest, Nereu Gargalo (Trio Mocotó), on pandeiro in the single "Xei Lá Town," as well as Jota P Barbosa (saxophone), Fernando César (piano), Cléber Almeida (drums), Giba da Silva Pinto (bass), and Rafael Kabelo (guitar). Janja Gomes (João's son and current musical director of Trio Mocotó) also contributed on acoustic guitar. The arrangements and musical direction were handled by Jotap.
