Smetana Trio

In 1967 a new Smetana Trio was founded, which took over the name abandoned by Josef Páleníček's formation (became the Czech Trio) and was composed by Josef Hála (piano), Václav Snítil (violin) and Stanislav Apolín (cello) and appeared briefly on the Czech music scene. This recording, released in 1970, was recorded by the fledgling Czech label Panton.

Reminder: The Smetana Trio, founded in 1934 by the pianist Josef Páleníček with the violinist Otta Silhavy and the cellist František Smetana, merged after the war with the Czech Trio, whose name it took and which was then composed of Josef Páleníček still, the violinist Alexandr Plocek and the cellist Miloš Sádlo, later replaced by Alexandr Večtomov. Josef Páleníček will be in charge until 1978, when he was replaced by his son, the cellist Jan Páleníček. After several reshuffles, the chamber ensemble was renamed the Smetana Trio with pianist Jitka Čechová and violinist Vonášková-Nováková.
