Oxford’s Jody and the Jerms have released their fourth full-lengther, Love Descends, a shimmering collection of twelve indie-pop gems that balances hearty introspection with enticing melody. There’s plenty of light and shade in the band’s bright yet emotionally nuanced sound.

The elements that made 2023’s Wonder LP so enjoyable are all here again—only this time they’re sharper, deeper, and more refined. The three tracks below neatly showcase the band’s 2025 range: opener Hooch and Happiness bursts out of the gate with jangly guitars and bittersweet harmonies, Unravelling throws a brass-fueled party, and I Don’t Wanna bites hard with its driving riffs.

As always, there is much to love in Jody Jeger’s effortlessly warm vocals and the band’s orchestral craftsmanship. This record captures the musicians at their most confident—thoughtful, tuneful, and even danceable.
