Fictions - Only Children (2025) [Hi-Res]

The album 'Only Children' is a collaborative project by Anthony Christopher, James Lees, and Joshua MacGregor, developed from mobile phone-recorded sketches and recorded in a home studio across 2023-2024. Its core is a painterly approach to composition, where sound is treated as color and texture. The nine tracks, created using piano, guitar, drums, synthesizers, and drone elements, explore themes of identity, limitations, illusion, and the passage of time. Symbolism, drawing heavily from nature and memory, is employed to convey movement and turning points. For instance, the centerpiece 'Murmuration' uses orchestral strings and piano to symbolize the synchronized movement of bird flocks, while the opening track 'Spinning' explores the contrasts between innocence and corruption in a slow-motion, dreamlike manner. The album is characterized as a work of ever-shifting landscapes and recurrent dualities, creating a circular narrative and is dedicated to David Lynch.
