Aldoc - From Tallaght to Halle (2014)

From Tallaght to Halle is the debut studio project by Irish flutist Alan Doherty, former Gráda frontman and contributor to The Lord of the Rings soundtrack. The album title reflects Doherty’s personal and creative journey—from his hometown of Tallaght, Ireland, to Halle, Germany, where he temporarily resided and gathered material based on new cultural experiences collected over fifteen years of world touring.

The album is a bold and dynamic fusion of Irish Celtic folk with elements of world music, jazz, electronica, hip-hop, and reggae, creating a unique, adventurous sound. Doherty’s musical vision combines traditional Irish flute and whistles with modern urban sounds, including jazz-tinged arrangements, heavy grooves, electronic beats, spooky brass solos, and dramatic breakdowns. The recording featured an international line-up of musicians from Europe and Oceania, including Riki Gooch (Crowded House/Fat Freddie’s Drop) and Ravi Kulur (Ravi Shankar Band).
