Dromedary Records announces the release of six 8-track recordings made in 1987 by the short-lived Boston underground rock band Via. The band's lineup included Thalia Zedek (later known for Come, Live Skull, Uzi) and Jerry di Rienzo (Cell, Nuclear Theater), who were just starting their musical careers at the time. The author, Al from Dromedary Records, learned about Via from Chris Brokaw, who called it "maybe Thalia's best band." The recordings, made in Jerry's basement studio, are described as a "time capsule" of loud, aggressive, and ferocious music. Chris Brokaw notes that while the music bears some resemblance to Sonic Youth, it is far more "raw, primal, seething, and inexorable." The band split up after only two shows as Zedek's work with Live Skull became a higher priority. Zedek herself chose the name Via because it reflected her feeling of being "in transition."
