Plains, Plateaus and Mountains is a landmark 1999 release by the Swedish collective Loosegoats, led by singer-songwriter Christian Kjellvander. The record serves as a compilation bringing together material from the band's early EPs, such as Country Crock and Slotmachine, which were originally released in limited quantities. The album was recorded at the legendary Silence Studios in Koppom, Sweden. The release's sound is characterized by a unique blend of the American alternative country tradition and melancholic Scandinavian indie rock, creating an atmosphere critics often refer to as "prairie rock" with a Nordic accent.
