Us & Them - The Lights and the Shadow (2025)

The Swedish acid folk duo Us and Them has released a new studio album, The Lights and the Shadow, three years after their previous record. Conceptually, the album unites opposites by combining idyllic pastoral motifs with a darker aesthetic, symbolizing light and shadow as integral aspects of existence. In addition to the core members, guest musicians contributed keyboards, flute, and backing vocals to the recording.

The album is characterized by a mature sound, rich harmonies, and a distinct atmosphere reminiscent of 70s melancholic gothic cinema. Furthermore, the work exhibits the stylistic influence of the band The Soft Hearted Scientists, particularly within its rhythmic structures. Overall, the release demonstrates an expansion of the collective's musical range.
