Beachwood Sparks - Make The Cowboy Robots Cry (2002)

Beachwood Sparks has released their most experimental record to date, the EP Make the Cowboy Robots Cry. In this 30-minute work, the band departs from their traditional style inspired by The Byrds, enriching their sound with elements of electronica, post-rock, and psychedelia. The new musical aesthetic was influenced by the collaboration with producer Jimmy Tamborello, the return of drummer Jimi Hey, and the band's appreciation for Dennis Wilson's solo work. While retaining their signature vocal harmonies, the group creates a melancholic and "cosmic" atmosphere, most notably demonstrated in the tracks "Hibernation" and "Ponce de Leon Blues."
