The trilingual chamber opera HORIZON: MADOG tells an epic tale of post-apocalyptic environmentalism. Set in a future where cataclysmic climate change has caused devastating flooding and geomagnetic storms have decimated global communication systems, the timely story follows Madog, founder of a back-to-the-earth philosophy that eschews any technology that could lead to further pollution. As societies slowly redevelop, Madog embarks on a quest to explore his ancestry and spread his views to unite humanity for a common cause. With a libretto written by Angela J. Murphy in English, French, and Welsh, HORIZON: MADOG explores how cultures can join as one for the greater good in a moving performance from baritone Jeremy Huw Williams and Ensemble Paramirabo. The opera is bookended with the sextet Un pont sanguin, a work commissioned by Ensemble Paramirabo featuring analog synthesizer.
