The Volcano Listening Project converts geophysical volcanic data into music, merging scientific research with computer synthesis and live performance. The album features sonifications of activity from volcanoes such as Mount Saint Helens and Kīlauea, supplemented by field recordings and improvisations. In this work, natural processes dictate the structure of compositions, allowing listeners to intuitively grasp Earth's dynamics through a blend of raw data and artistic interpretation. The project serves as a bridge between science and art, offering a unique method for understanding natural phenomena.
