Orquestra Serenata Tropical was yet another orchestra formed by studio musicians, in this specific case, from the CBS record label. The orchestra achieved relative success in Brazil and especially in Latin America, with its versions of boleros and rumbas. On the same record label, other famous studio orchestras stood out, among them the Orquestra Brasileira de Espetáculos and the Orquestra Tropicana, which was released under the Tropicana label, appealing to a more popular audience. The Orquestra Serenata Tropical was conducted by maestro Henrique Gandelman, father of the Brazilian saxophonist Leo Gandelman, and was composed of musicians from the CBS record label, the same ones who accompanied the recordings of several artists from the label's roster. Henrique Gandelman was a lawyer, copyright specialist, conductor, violinist, and artistic director of the CBS record label in Brazil.
