Nate Ruess and Sam Means have reunited after two decades to release Boycott Heaven, marking the end of Ruess's ten-year hiatus from the music scene. The record is a conceptual work exploring themes of religion, internal struggles, and the re-evaluation of fame. Musically, the album blends elements of glam rock, 90s power-pop, doom rock, and orchestral ballads, drawing parallels to Ruess’s previous work in fun. as well as influences from Paul McCartney and early Weezer. The project showcases Ruess's extensive vocal range and concludes with a triumphant manifesto regarding his return to the industry and the reclamation of his career.
