Paddy Fitzgerald's album Floot Bird is an exploration of organic sound, where the environment acts as a full-fledged collaborator. A key element of the work is field recordings of the lyrebird's voice, in which the musician discovered complex polyrhythmic structures. The composer utilizes both sounds of the wilderness and everyday noises — ranging from the hum of freezers to archival recordings from bushfire zones — transforming them into the foundation for bass grooves and electroacoustic canvases. Created in collaboration with producer Petter Eldh, the work emphasizes the priority of tactility and human presence over digital precision. It is a deeply personal statement on the connection between memory, landscape, and the physical nature of sound.
