Dublin's folk-metal innovators The Scratch released their highly anticipated third album, Pull Like a Dog, via Sony Music Ireland/Music For Nations. Following the success of their 2023 record Mind Yourself, the band—Conor Dockery, Cathal McKenna, Daniel Lang, and Gary Regan—delivers a ten-track collection that perfectly fuses acoustic instruments with the raw aggression of metal. Written at Hellfire Studio with producer John "Spud" Murphy (Lankum, black midi), the album represents a "new beginning" for the group, embracing a heavier sound while maintaining their distinctive raucous energy. Inspired by Irish Olympic rowers' mantra and born from a period of personal turbulence, the title track captures the album's ethos of perseverance—grabbing life "by the scruff" and refusing to apologize for merely existing.
