“Colours” is the title of the Chilean musician’s twenty-sixth solo album (aside from collaborative projects), recorded at both Pez Records in Chile and Mozart Studios in New York, and featuring Ron Carter on double bass.
“The new album has many moments of progressive and improvised rock, fusion, as well as intimate ballads, bebop, and post-hard bop, the latter dedicated to the New York guitarist Emily Remler, who passed away far too young,” explains Christian Gálvez, adding that “as musicians, we are not detached from reality: last year we were in Europe, playing in places of extreme peace, as well as on borders with armed conflicts. So this album evokes the concept of contrasts, ‘colors.’”
After debuting in 1996, Christian Gálvez (1977) is considered one of the most respected Chilean jazz fusion musicians, both for his remarkable work in composition, production and teaching, as well as for being the creator of the Pez record label, with which he has released over a hundred albums, including "The art of chordmelody" (2019), an album in which great double bass players from around the world collaborated, such as the aforementioned Ron Carter, as well as Eddie Gómez, John Patitucci and Dave Young, among other talents.
