Clara Inglese - Ophelia | Songs of Exile (2019) [Hi-Res]

Clara Inglese’s musical project reimagines the classical figure of Ophelia, drawing a parallel between 19th-century Romanticism and the pressing social issues of the modern era. Through the work Chant d’exil, composed by Benoît Mernier with text by François Emmanuel, the personal tragedy of the Shakespearean heroine is transformed into a global allegory of exile. The music explores the theme of madness as a reaction to the liminal states of human existence, linking the mythological narrative to the memory of contemporary refugees. The project integrates vocal artistry and modern composition to facilitate an immersive reflection on boundaries, memory, and human loss.
