Brass Roots is a studio album by American jazz trumpeter Doc Severinsen, released in 1971 by RCA Victor.
The album is considered one of Severinsen's most distinctive works in the jazz-funk and pop-jazz genres. The recording was arranged, conducted, and produced by the renowned Don Sebesky.
The recording featured a full orchestra, including a string section (up to 20 instruments on some tracks), as well as renowned musicians such as bassist John Williams and pianist Ross Tompkins.
The album combines Doc's technical trumpet playing with grooves that were contemporary for the early 1970s, the use of electric guitars with wah-wah effects, and rich orchestrations.
