Greg Chako - Come To Sorrento's (2026)

One of the most prodigious of today’s mainstream guitarists, Greg Chako gives you the sounds of a night at work with his bassist David Lloyd, playing exquisitely at the cozy confines of Sorrento’s Italian Joint in Cincinnati. You can hear a bit of customer chatter in the background, and can almost smell the mix of sawdust on the floor and tomato sauce, as Chako swings easy on the rich read of “West Coast Blues” and the hip “Freddie The Freeloader”. Lloyd keeps things rolling for Chako as he lays down a rich groove on “Back At The Chicken Shack” while adding rich draperies to “Darn That Dream” and “Portrait of Jenny”. Chako is crystal clear throughout, sometimes hinting at Wes Montgomery, other times Kenny Burrell, but always spot on at the pizza spot.~ By George W. Harris
