Open Heart Project is the fifth studio album by Jamaican singer, poet, and yoga practitioner Jah9 (Janine Cunningham), released 27 March 2026 via VP Records. The album completes a four-part narrative arc conceived as a journey through the full lifecycle of love — awakening, growth, disillusionment, and reconciliation — built across a series of singles released between 2023 and 2025.
The project began with "Open Heart" (2023), a personal prelude rooted in her years of silent spiritual retreat in Tanzania during the pandemic. It continued with "Match" (2024), capturing the intoxication of new romance, and "Hurricane" (2025), confronting the rupture of disillusionment. The album's closing tracks, including two collaborations with longtime creative partner RoryStoneLove — the producer behind her critically acclaimed 2013 debut New Name — bring the arc to its resolution. Jah9's music operates in the space she calls "Jazz on Dub": roots reggae structures opened up by dub's spatial logic, laced with jazz improvisation and sung poetry rooted in Rastafari spirituality. Rolling Stone has praised her lyrics for their messages of mindfulness, perseverance, and self-love, while United Reggae described her as possessing "a jazz soloist's fluidity, a singer's voice and a poet's flow."
