The composer Walter Zimmermann is inspired by ancient philosophy as well as the thinkers of French structuralism. His work is accompanied by extensive studies. The student of Mauricio Kagel is also a great connoisseur of American music and is influenced by John Cage and Morton Feldman. Ludwig Wittgenstein's thought - "The music of the future will have to be simple, transparent, naked." - could stand as a motto for Zimmermann's solo works for viola. Julia Rebekka Adler performs these with technical precision and intellectual penetration. The recording was made in the acoustic expanse of the Andreaskirche, Berlin-Wannsee - clear and of quiet intensity.
