Sooj - Crusher (2026) [Hi-Res]

Sooj is a collaborative project between California's Duster (Clay Parton and Canaan Dove Amber) and North Carolina-based producer Matt Cagle, who records as Dirty Art Club. The partnership took shape during a joint tour in the autumn of 2024 and first materialized on the limited 7" single Anhedonia II b/w Ecstasy Cowgirl, built from fragments of Duster's In Dreams sessions. Cagle reworked sketches and scraps from the band into a collage-based sonic fabric straddling surf-psychedelia, space-age soft rock, and digital drone ambient.
Crusher extends and deepens that approach. According to the label, the album dissolves Duster's slowcore drift into Dirty Art Club's sample-heavy, collage-minded production. The result is neither a side project nor a continuation of either act on its own — rather, it constitutes an autonomous space woven from tape hiss, chopped memory, and late-night signal bleed. The record sidesteps nostalgia entirely, hovering instead in a liminal present — part collaboration, part escape route. Catalogue number: NUM309. The digital release arrived on April 3, 2026, with physical formats (vinyl and CD) scheduled to ship on July 24, 2026.
