High Rise, led by Asahito Nanjo and Munehiro Narita, radically transformed 1960s and 70s rock into an aggressive form of psychedelic punk. The band was instrumental in the founding of the P.S.F. label, shaping the identity of the Tokyo underground through extreme speed and distorted soundscapes. While their early releases focused on high-tempo performance, the 1992 album Dispersion expanded their palette with bluesy elements, no wave influences, and crushingly heavy rhythms. Munehiro Narita remains the central figure, whose masterful fuzz-guitar work merges chaotic energy with technical precision. The new deluxe reissue by Black Editions offers a restored version of this classic album, overseen by Nanjo himself.
