Somni is Leo Shulman, a UK born, LA based producer, singer/songwriter, and multi- instrumentalist. With a wide range of influences spanning from Elliott Smith to Flying Lotus, Somni’s music generally toes the line between lo-fi indie, experimental hip-hop, and ambient electronic. With support and features from Pigeons and Planes, Mixmag, NPR, Electronic Sound, Bandcamp Daily and more, Somni continues to push boundaries with a distinctive, genre-bending sound.

The Cost Of Living is a raw, songwriting-driven album from Somni that moves away from the electronic textures of his past work toward something more intimate and unpolished. Written over the course of a year marked by sustained loss and grief, the record became a means of processing those experiences in real time. Many of the songs were created simply to endure the moment, and in that sense, they have already served their purpose - for Somni, and for the loved ones who were navigating similar waves of grief.
