French easy listening legend Paul Mauriat, best known for the worldwide smash "Love Is Blue," delivered a polished collection of early 80s pop interpretations with his 1983 album Wild Spring. Released on the Philips label, the 12-track album features Mauriat's signature lush orchestral arrangements covering contemporary hits from the era, including Lionel Richie's "You Are" and "Baby Come To Me" by Rod Temperton. The album also includes theme songs from popular films—"Your Eyes" (from La Boum 2), "Avant Toi" (from Edith et Marcel), and "Up Where We Belong" (from An Officer and a Gentleman)—alongside two original compositions by Mauriat himself: the title track "Wild Spring" and "Eagle Wings," which features a recorder solo by Claude Civelli. The album was later remastered and reissued in 2015 by Vocalion as part of a two-fer compilation with Mauriat's 1982 album Magic.
