Handmade is the latest project by Argentine pianist and composer Emilio Solla, created with his celebrated ensemble La Inestable de Brooklyn. Conceived as a tribute to the human and artisanal nature of music-making, the album celebrates acoustic sound, craftsmanship and emotional authenticity in contrast to digital artificiality.
Blending tango traditions, chamber music textures and the sophisticated language of New York jazz, Solla crafts a richly detailed suite for nonet that balances lyrical melodies with bold improvisation. Recorded in Brooklyn, the music reflects a dialogue between Solla’s Argentine roots and contemporary jazz sensibilities, resulting in a deeply expressive and cohesive work.
Handmade stands as both an artistic statement and a musical manifesto: music made by people, for people - intimate, vibrant and profoundly human.
Personnel:
Emilio Solla - Piano, Direction
Sara Caswell - Violin
Tim Armacost - Tenor Saxophone, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet
Rodolfo Zanetti - Bandoneón
Edward Perez - Double Bass
David Smith - Trumpet, Flugelhorn
Mike Fahie - Trombone
Rogério Boccato - Drums, Percussion
Alejandro Avilés - Soprano Saxophone, Alto Saxophone, Flute
