Jazz bassist Michael Bede Dunlop released his debut solo album Bede, inspired by the folk heritage of North East England and Scandinavian jazz. Recorded in a rural Northumberland studio, the work blends elements of Irish and Scottish melodic motifs with contemporary improvisation. The ensemble—comprising saxophonist Albert Hills Wright, pianist Finn Carter, and drummer Dave Adsett—evolved from strictly structured scores toward creative freedom and spontaneity. The vinyl release is architecturally divided into two parts: an energetic quartet side and a minimalist trio side, highlighting different facets of musical interplay and the clarity of the compositional vision.
