“The Aftermath” is Ingeborg Sollid’s first release under her own name, and consists of a collection of songs that explore inner thought processes and emotional life. The themes revolve around identity, self-esteem and relationships, explored through metaphors such as the infinity of space and the untamed forces of the sea, as well as instrumental compositions drawing inspiration from both modern jazz and alternative pop. The album “The Aftermath” is a reflection on belonging and direction, and on the relationships we build, carry with us and sometimes lose along the way.

The music draws inspiration from the modern jazz scene in the US, particularly musicians such as vocalist Cecile McLorin Salvant, trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire and guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, as well as the Norwegian jazz vocalist Elin Rosseland and bands such as Radiohead. The result is a genre-spanning collection of tracks, with references to straight-ahead jazz, alternative pop and modern instrumental music.
