The project "Shatter" by composer and pianist Carlin Lee blends the traditions of classical chamber music with jazz improvisation. The ensemble's unique "double quintet" format, which integrates a traditional jazz quintet with a woodwind quintet, creates a distinctive sonic palette featuring a warmth and tonal depth rarely heard in jazz settings.
