Brighton-based glam-laced art-rock newcomers Not Richard & Her Majesty are delighted to announce that their debut album Success & Fulfilment will be released on 22nd May 2026 via producer Ben Hillier’s (Depeche Mode, Blur) label, Agricultural Audio.

No stranger to the stage, before embarking on this latest venture Fownes played with several renowned acts including The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, UNKLE, Nine Inch Nails, The Duke Spirit, and Bad For Lazarus.

“This is what happens after ten bands, five heartbreaks, and a few too many breakdowns,” says Fownes of the new outfit. “It’s me trying to make sense of ruin—personal, professional, and otherwise through a warped lens of 60s pop sunshine.”

Not Richard & Her Majesty released their 2025 debut EP Not Hot last year, preceded by the thrilling debut single ‘Everything Explodes’. Recorded in Brighton and produced by Jamie Hall from Tigercub, the record is packed with what Hall describes as “emotionally raw classics. They’re nostalgic, cathartic, and dark, like The Shangri-Las covering songs by The Birthday Party.” The EP kicked up a flurry of early tastemaker praise online, plus radio support from Guy Garvey at BBC 6music.

Creating an immediate impression live, the band made their on-stage debut with a sold-out headline show at The Hope & Ruin in Brighton, and have since shared stages with emerging favourites like Slag, Magda, Swallowtail, Mind Frog and Kissing On Camera to close out last year.

Forthcoming debut album Success & Fulfilment builds on Not Richard’s psychedelic sunshine-fuelled brand of garage punk rock, and was preceded by lead single ‘My Twink Death’ earlier this year, packed with handclaps, whirling synths, and a rusty, buzzsaw guitar solo that rampages through proceedings like a wounded animal.
