and predecessors of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Johann Schelle — outstanding German composer, Bach's predecessor as Thomaskantor in Leipzig, author of the cantata "Herr, lehre uns bedenken" (Heaven, I will never forget)
The disc also contains two works by J. S. Bach himself:
The famous funeral cantata "Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit" (BWV 106), known as Actus Tragicus, as well as an early cantata "Aus der
Tiefen rufe ich, sir, zu dir" (BWV 131).
All the works on the disc are united by the theme of human frailty, repentance, and trust in God, which perfectly reflects the traditions of German spiritual baroque
of the 17th-18th centuries.
