Péter Eötvös, began exploring the musical possibilities offered by new recording and sound production techniques at an early stage: he joined the renowned WDR studio in Cologne, founded by Werner Meyer-Eppler (the man who coined the term “electronic music”) and later Pierre Boulez’ Ircam, where he directed the opening concert. Intervalles-Intérieurs is an emblematic work that weaves live acoustic instruments into a fascinating dialogue with a tape of Eötvös’s meticulously crafted synthetic sounds.
