World-renowned drummer Simon Phillips has introduced a new album, "Protocol 6," with his band Protocol. In this release, Phillips showcases his growth as a composer, tailoring the material specifically to the individual strengths of each band member. Stylistically, the record blends jazz-rock with progressive jazz, utilizing rock-and-roll influences to shape the structure of the tracks, which marks a notable departure from "Protocol V." The ensemble's well-established lineup remains unchanged, with the sole exception of virtuoso saxophonist Phillip Whack joining the group.
