"Forged by the Sun" is the fifth studio album by British neo-progressive rock band Castanarc, released in the first half of 2026. This release marks a powerful return for the cult band, whose peak activity came in the second half of the 1980s (particularly thanks to their acclaimed 1985 debut, "Journey to the Edge of the Light").

The album's title ("Forged by the Sun") symbolizes the idea of rebirth, inner strength, fortification through life's difficulties, and fidelity to one's creative path despite the passage of time.

The band's founding members, vocalist David Mark Thomas and multi-instrumentalist Mark Cullen, have always been distinguished by their ability to create subtle, lyrical, and atmospheric music. After a long hiatus and sporadic releases in the 2020s, working on Forged by the Sun was an opportunity for the musicians to take stock and prove that classic British neo-prog remains alive and well.

The album was conceived as a grand canvas, blending modern recording technology with the vintage spirit of the '80s. Conceptually, the lyrics revolve around themes of time, human memory, the connection between generations, and the search for light in times of uncertainty.

Forged by the Sun is a gift for dedicated fans of classic neo-prog. The album showcases the high quality of the British school of melancholic art rock: it is unhurried, beautifully arranged, and imbued with the same bright, nostalgic mood for which fans fell in love with Castanarc forty years ago.
