Black Dog Groove Society - Dog Dance (2026) [Hi-Res]

The German jazz quartet BLACK DOG GROOVE SOCIETY is set to release their second album, Dog Dance, on June 12, 2026, via the TimeZone label. Led by saxophonist Katharina Maschmeyer and guitarist Nils Pollheide, the project is rooted in the traditions of instrumental Hammond organ jazz. Recorded with new drummer Hardy Fischötter, the new work blends elements of soul, contemporary funk, and classic hard bop from the Blue Note era. The album's concept and artwork humorously revolve around the musicians' dog, Wicky, serving as a symbolic positive counterweight to the troubled global climate. Nearly all the material was composed by the ensemble's leaders and recorded at their own studio in Osnabrück.
