Italian bassist and composer Ilaria Capalbo releases her new, deeply personal album, The Brightest Sun, following her successful debut, Karthago. The record's central theme is inspired by motherhood and the profound transformations of identity associated with it. Composed in fragmented sessions during pregnancy and early parenthood, the album features a raw, immediate sound and shifts toward more experimental territory. The tracks blend elements of modern jazz, free improvisation, rock, and indie music. The recording was created in close synergy with a tight-knit international quintet (guitar, saxophones, bass clarinet, and drums), combining a profound improvisational approach with vivid Mediterranean melodicism.

Ilaria Capalbo: double bass, electric bass, effects
Thomas Backman: alto sax, bass clarinet
Fredrik Nordström: tenor sax
Andreas Hourdakis: guitar
Henrik Jäderberg: drums
