By 1974, John "Robbo" Robinson was already a recognized Australian guitar hero – he had pioneered heavy rock on the continent, playing in bands like The Dave Miller Set, Blackfeather (with their iconic album "At The Mountains Of Madness"), and the studio superproject Duck.

"Pity For The Victim" was his ambitious solo statement, where Robinson emerged not just as a guitarist but as a mature composer, arranger, and producer. For the recording, he assembled a true "dream team" from the Australian jazz and rock scene of the time.

"Pity For The Victim," the album by Australian guitar virtuoso John Robinson, released in 1974 on the Infinity label (a division of Festival Records), is one of the greatest "lost gems" of Australian progressive rock and jazz-rock of the 1970s. The original vinyl pressing was limited to only around 1,000 copies, making it an extremely rare collector's item.
The "Reissue, Remastered" edition (specifically, the rare 2006 CD remaster released by the musician himself) has given this recording a new lease of life, distilling the dense, multi-layered sound of the original tapes.
