Freyja Garbett - Sowden House (2026)

Australian composer Freyja Garbett has released the album "Sowden House," which originated as a soundtrack for a VR game developed by L.A. Noire creator Brendan McNamara. The record's narrative and atmosphere are inspired by the eponymous Los Angeles mansion, a site steeped in dark legends and noir aesthetics. Musically, the project offers an eclectic fusion of jazz, psychedelic funk, and orchestral ambience, recorded featuring the funk collective Mister Ott alongside various classical musicians. The album has evolved beyond its original purpose as a video game score to become a standalone cinematic work. Both critics and collaborators highlight the depth of the orchestrations and Garbett’s proficiency in conveying a tense, mystical atmosphere through complex sonic landscapes.
