IZZ - I Move (Anniversary Edition) (2023)

"I Move (Anniversary Edition)" is an expanded anniversary reissue of the second studio album by American band IZZ, released digitally in March 2023 (the physical CD edition was released earlier, in late 2022). The original album was released in 2002 and became the band's signature album.

The original "I Move" is considered by critics and fans to be one of the most vibrant, fresh, and underrated prog albums of its time on the American scene. The New York band demonstrated a mature approach, refusing to copy the genre's clichés.

The music of IZZ on this album is a kaleidoscope of influences. Here you can hear complex polyrhythms and aggressive guitar/keyboard lines in the vein of King Crimson, Yes, and Genesis, which suddenly flow into graceful pop harmonies in the style of The Beatles or sophisticated jazz-rock à la Steely Dan.

The anniversary edition has been remastered to a high standard and is significantly expanded. While the original album consisted of 15 tracks (including such highlights as the epic 11-minute "Coming Like Light," the instrumental "Star Evil Gnoma Su," and the dynamic title track "I Move"), the 2023 version features 33 tracks, totaling over 2 hours and 20 minutes. It includes rare bonus tracks, live performances, and archival outtakes (unreleased working material).

The album's distinctive features include the use of dual drummers (Greg DiMiceli on acoustic drums, and Brian Coralian on electronic percussion and programming), as well as the superb interplay of the Galgano brothers' male vocals (Tom and John) with the female vocals of Anmarie Byrnes.
