Boris Maurussane - Tears of English Town (2026)

French musician Boris Maurussane introduced his monumental solo album, Tears of English Town. The work is a multi-layered, cinematic showcase of orchestral pop impressionism. The record's texture seamlessly blends the influences of Brazilian bossa nova by Jobim, the avant-pop sensibilities of Robert Wyatt, The High Llamas, and Stereolab, alongside academic approaches to classical minimalism and impressionism. The recording of the 14 tracks features a colossal palette of instrumentation, ranging from analog Buchla synthesizers to brass, woodwinds, strings, and harp. Producers Stéphane Laporte / Domotic, Hadrien Grange, and Emmanuel Mario / Astrobal collaborated to expand the psychedelic and electronic fields of the release, securing a delicate balance between grand orchestrations and fragile melancholy.
